For patients requiring closer monitoring, these larger Exam Rooms located immediately in front of the Nurse Station are equipped with break-away glass doors and oxygen gas ports that more than adequately provide for more serious patient care before the patients are moved on to a Hospital or released.

This facility contains 9 Exam Rooms 5 of which take advantage of these high windows. Each of these windows are equipped with blinds not only for patient privacy but also for some ambient light.
Although not required at the initial plan-check with Los Angeles County, we elected to go with the newer California Title 24 Energy Saving Standards and used all LED luminaires throughout the space and all exterior rooms with windows are equipped with daylight dimming sensors as well as the standard occupancy sensors.

X-Ray Room
SRB Design, Inc. coordinated with medical physicists and Adventist Health who selected this style X-Ray equipment, the Sedecal X LP Plus in this instance, which allows the patient to remain on the carbon fiber table and have the X-Ray head rotate around the patient as needed. Structural engineers were retained for the vertical support connection.

The comfortable Waiting Room takes advantage of exterior ambient light though the suite entry doors and solar shaded window blinds at the exterior windows. The remainder is entirely illuminated with dimmable LED luminaires for a soft and relaxing environment where patients can relax before receiving superior care from the AHPN Health Care Providers.

The Waiting Room seats both individuals in lounge chairs but also have the option for bench seating that are designed for bariatric patient weight loads. The bench seating areas are equipped with soft up-lighting that bounces illumination from the soffit above for relaxing light loads that still are comfortable for reading.
The custom tables are equipped with power and USB ports for patients and family to keep connected to the internet via the AHPN guest Wi-Fi access.

In this Waiting Room seating group, there are planter boxes separating this group from the other group seen at the left for an additional sense of visual privacy.

These Exam Rooms meet the AHPN standards and take advantage of ambient light on this 3rd floor space in this 3 story building's full height windows. Using the 3% light emitting blinds provides patient privacy yet a pleasant view to the outside any time of the day.

Even as one enters or exits the Patient Treatment areas, patients are greeted with comfortable pools of illumination that not only provide accent lighting but also assist in way-finding. In emergency conditions there are wall concealed LED emergency luminaires that come into full use in the event of loss of power.

The central Nurse Station allows for immediate visual and proximity access to each of the 9 Exam Rooms. Art niches were used for both storage of literature and artwork to break up the otherwise ling and monotonous wall of the Exam Rooms.

Health Care Providers are able to re-group, collaborate, or work semi-privately in a shared office environment - a designed feature that allows for maximum patient treatment rooms.

This detail illustrates both the accent lighting and ambient illumination of the Bench Seating areas. These up-lights also were designed to provide grazing illumination to the Modular Arts wall panels.

What if it looked this way? These are computer generated renderings used for client evaluation during the Design Development Phase.
This was an exercise late in the project to present to the client’s higher up decision makers to approve the installation of this 9 panel LCD wall. The concept of the 9 screen LCD panels wall signage and information wall was approved and installed.
This was a retail bank location located on the ground floor of a high-rise office building. A modular vault was installed and clad with a non-combustible plaster/fiberglass/gypsum material (left side of the photo).
